Year Three have completely immersed themselves in Time for the last 2 weeks. They have learnt to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes and been brilliant at learning what time is and how it changes throughout the day.
They started out by being challenged on how long a minute is, how long 5 minutes is, how long 30 minutes is and how long an hour is. This included waving your arms in the air when they though 30 minutes had elapsed in their writing task. The closest anyone got was 25 minutes!
They practiced telling the time with analogue and digital clocks and have grown in confidence with their understanding of time. We’ve been grateful to the beeping digital watch Nathan has, every hour when we hear the beep there are 30 children saying, “It’s __ o’clock!”
If you see a Year 3 child around school don’t be afraid to challenge them and ask them the time!
