This week in our foreign languages hour, year 4 learned how to write the days of the week and the calendar months in Spanish. We learned that conversing in a foreign language is important because it boosts our speaking and listening skills; improves our memory; enhances our levels of concentration; and helps us improve our ability to multitask.
Partaking in our Spanish lessons also allows us to enhance our creative side whilst learning how to communicate with people from another part of the world. Year 4 know that being able to communicate with someone in his or her language is an incredible gift. It can give us the unique opportunity to communicate with a wider range of people in their personal and communal lives.
Perhaps one day, our knowledge of another language will help us find employment, meet a new friend when we are on holiday or help another person in need. Most importantly, learning how to speak Spanish is a lot of fun! In the words of the great Dora the Explorer: Aprender a hablar español te abrirá un mundo Nuevo! Lo hicimos!
