In order to write as detailed a re-tell as possible, the Year 2 children were asked to act out the beginning of ‘Man on the Moon’ the day before.
One (or two!) children was allocated the job of reading the text – whilst the others had to act out what was happening in the story.
This was a fantastic way for the children to practice using loud, clear voices (very important for The Nativity!) as well as memorising the initial elements of the story to aid their writing.
Afterward, they went on to write very detailed and descriptive re-tells of the beginning of the story so it obviously had an impact!
