The preparations for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in our classroom are now coming to its climax. This week, year six have been sketching self-portraits of the Queen and have been learning why and how Queen Elizabeth II has been the heartbeat of our great nation. From her days as a mechanic and her time in the A.T.S., to her inspirational speeches during Christmas and her countless visits to hospitals delivering messages of hope and courage, we know our Queen has fulfilled her personal duties to our nation and more.
Through this art project to commemorate our Queen, we learned to develop our creativity and ideas, and increased our ability to use water colours effectively. For our portraits of the Queen, Year six used a range of techniques to record their observations in sketchbooks, journals and referenced other media as a basis to explore their ideas. The result: a complete masterpiece!
