This week Year 5 went to the Francis Crick Institute to do some exciting Science workshops. We learnt about Lab safety and the importance of wearing out Lab Coats and safety goggles and making sure our hair is tied back.

Our first experiment was learning about how catalysts can make a chemical change happen. We had some hydrogen peroxide and we added some food colouring and some soap, then we added our catalyst and saw the amazing chemical reaction take place!

Then we got into groups and followed some details instructions to carry out our own experiments. We were trying to work out, based on the properties of each powder, which one was cornflour.

Finally, we learnt about electrical circuits and what factor can affect the power of the different elements. It was such a fun day!
