Science from The Crick Institute

On Tuesday we were visited by the amazing scientists from The Francis Crick Institute. They taught us about the human body and ways we can use scientific testing.

Firstly, we learnt about bones in the human body and their different roles. We measured our femurs (thigh bones!) and then made predicitions of whether a longer femur would mean someone could jump further. We found some correlation but discussed that there are other factors that affect the results.

We also different objects that had once been alive such as a fossil and a jaw bone, that were hidden in bags. We had to think which was which and think about which tools might be used with that thing and the different jobs associated.
