Twenty-three students from the Year 6 class have recently concluded a remarkable 4-day, 3-night adventure in Tollesbury, Essex, aboard the Trinity Lightship. Below is a brief overview and some photos capturing the highlights of their School Journey.

Commencing with a 2-hour coach journey from Somers Town, the first day commenced with a full tour of the vessel. This included a visit to the lookout point, offering breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside. The children then delved into the marsh, with some getting delightfully messy while discovering crab exoskeletons and various bird droppings! Following dinner, a night hike unfolded, and bedtime was met with lingering excitement. Fortunately, the children settled down well, ensuring a restful first night away from home.

Despite a few drops of rain on the second day, the children engaged in indoor archery and the fearsome high ropes. We were so amazed by the children’s grit and determination to get as high as they could and the encouragement they gave to each other. A Trinity challenge led to a comical encounter with an egg landing on faces and hair at meal time before a competitive few games of dodgeball and kingball!

Day three featured the students venturing onto the waves aboard sailing boats, a wonderful experience for all. Their infectious enthusiasm and positive energy helped them enjoy their time on the water and even take in the warmth of the sun! The afternoon was dedicated to team-building games, showcasing the children’s encouragement of each other, even in the face of initial challenges. The day concluded with an evening quiz, with the Golden Lions proudly emerging victorious!

The final day involved the class tackling climbing and bouldering, revealing some natural talents. Once again, the children’s mutual support for each other was commendable. The farewell meal on the boat evoked a mix of sadness at leaving and excitement about reuniting with families.

Returning with satisfied tummies and cherished memories, the students demonstrated exceptional teamwork and friendship. We hope this delightful group of children carry their newfound confidence and positive spirit into the remainder of their Year 6 journey and beyond.
