Making Maya Bread

Year 6 have kicked off learning about our new topic ‘What legacy did the Maya leave’ with some baking!

We learnt about how the landscape of Central America impacted the food the Maya people could produce. The main source of food was corn. This was harvested and washed, then ground into different flours to make a variety of breads.

We had a go at making our own bread using a traditional Maya recipe. The main difference we noticed was that the bread didn’t rise!
