Today Year 2 played a new Maths game called ‘Magpie’.
This game is played with two players – one player is the magpie and the other has to make the amount.
The played making an amount begins by asking, ‘Magpie, magpie, in your nest, which number do you like best?’
After a number is given, i.e. 6 – the player must then build that number however they can and place the amount inside the nest.
There may be 1, 2, 3, 4 and even 5 different ways to make the number – the player needs to find them all.
