For the first week back, Year 2 has been practising letter writing. We started by writing a letter to Mr Bridgford, Mrs Menhal or Mrs Robins. In the letter, children had to say 1 thing they’re good at, 1 thing they find a bit tricky and to ask us a question – such as ‘What is your favourite colour?’
Today we wrote letters to our friends and families. The purpose of the letter(s) was to either say ‘Thank You’ to their family, for looking after them during the lockdown, or to say ‘I miss you’ to a friend or family member they haven’t seen for a while. Overall I was extremely impressed by the quality of the writing, especially considering the tumultuous year we’ve all had so far.
I look forward to many more writing opportunities with Year 2 and can’t wait to see what they’re able to produce by years end. You can see some example of our writing below, as well as the children’s cards which they decorated.
