Year 6 have returned from their successful trip on board Fellowship Afloat on the Essex coast. After the coach trip the children got a tour of the Lightship that would be their home for the next 72 hours.
Team activities and Archery followed and we saw some great teamwork and perseverance in solving the tasks. See if you can spot who got a 10 with their first set of arrows!
The children had the chance to see beautiful sky full of stars on the night hike but seemed slightly more interested in jumping in the mud! By the time the children had tucked into their third portion of cake they were ready for hot chocolate and got settled into their bunks for the first night aboard the ship!
During Tuesday morning the children swapped over activities and then the hit the open water for a sailing adventure. On a gorgeous afternoon, we learnt how to sail the boats and they were thoroughly exhausted by the end of the day.
Wednesday morning arrived and at 5 a.m. the children we somehow full of energy for a new day of adventures. Despite calls to, “go back to bed,” there was no calming the excitement! A day of high ropes and kayaking followed in the sunshine and showers. We were so impressed with the resilience and strength in the children who overcame their fears to succeed!
A talent show and the fifth lot of cake brought the day to a close and it was time for bed on our final night.
A relative lie in (until 7 a.m., they must have been tired!) and breakfast began our day on Thursday. There was still time for climbing in the morning before our final lunch and cake. Before we knew it we were back in London!
