Year 4 learning about the scientific method

This week year four did a marvelous job learning how materials can change state. In this case, double cream, which has all of the characteristics of a liquid, can change states after been shaken with extreme force. After a series of fair tests, several year four students were able to explain how the double cream went through a variety of irreversible changes. “The most noticeable change that we observed were the containers used to make butter. It didn’t matter what container we used, as long as we shook the double cream with enough force, it would shrink, turn a different colour and smell differently.” Varin year 4 student
