Crick Institute Visit

On Wednesday last week Year 1 had a visit from the Francis Crick Institute, a bio-medical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the scientific mechanisms of living things.

Maria, our guest Scientist, talked to us about the five senses – sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. We identified which part of our bodies was responsible for each sense and used these during our class investigation.

Students had to touch, listen to, smell and even taste a mystery object, hidden within a black bag, to try and guess what it was.

It turned out to be Strawberry Ice-cream, with some students figuring it out before the final reveal!

Overall it was a lot of fun and we got to develop our understanding of science, inquiry and our bodies.
